Hey, did they post how many games it breaks?

Completely awesome that 1/2 the games I still play were broken by the last official patch in some manner.

Even more awesome, Dawn of War II: Chaos rising was sponsored by ATI, and the graphics were completely broken compared to the last vanilla Dawn of War II patch.

Way to go ATI! Just like the good ole days.

I wonder if starcraft 2 will see any benefit. Right now with everything maxed, including SSAO, I'm getting about 40-55fps at 1920x1080. I've tried turning AA and AF on through the Catalyst Control Center. I see a large performance dip, but see no noticeable visual improvements. I still get jagged edges with no sign of smoothing. Maybe ATI/AMD needs to make a AA/AF profile for it to work?

    » hmm
AA/FA was not really designed for use at that high a resolution. Your pixel density is already so high at 1080p that you probably won't see any difference.

    WOW, you are... so wrong.

You are confusing pixel density with aliasing, an artifact tied to 3d graphics. This is not video or photos, where aliasing due to rendering doesn't exist for obvious reasons.
And besides, you are wrong about pixel density anyway (given a large enough screen, you'll see the pixel structure on almost any display, let alone pixel detail, meaning the pixels themselves will look less detailed)

You think 1920 x 1080 is high, lol. Everyone and their brother has that size monitor and res now. They downgraded when they made that res, I had 1920 x 1200 for years before it was popular and now i have 2560 x 1600 so if you want real res move on up if you can afford it, your missing out if not. Fermi isnt going to be all that either i wouldnt worry.

According to the latest steam survey only around 15% of PC gamers run at 1920x1080 or higher resolution.

Congratulations, you represent .1% of the PC gaming market, if that. Your mom must be proud that you can afford it.

Looks like my direct link to the files themselves aren't allowed by the AMD servers. Instead you have to go to this link first:

    » preview drivers?
Is it a driver or not a driver? WTF is a preview of a driver- will only render red and green but blue or what's the deal :-)

I find the use of the word "preview" in this context just plain wrong.

Think of it this way. There's a new high-end DX11 GPU coming soon. ATI obviously wants to put their best foot forward for said upcoming high-end DX11 GPU. They don't want their DX11 cards running with older drivers against this upcoming high-end DX11 GPU, especially when they've got performance improvements on tap with the newer "preview" driver.
