» Top Games of 2010

Because multiple blockbuster games were pushed back from Q4'09 to 2010, the next few months should be pretty busy for gamers. Games like Splinter Cell Conviction, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Supreme Commander 2, Mass Effect 2, and BioShock 2 are all expected within the first 3 months of 2010. Hopefully next year we'll also see the debut of games like id Software's RAGE and StarCraft 2. Join us as Vandy highlights some of the most anticipated games of next year in this article!

» If only we had a media that looked at everything
I am fed up seeing the same old titles over and over again, and the same old titles missed over and over again!

Where is Two Worlds II? or The Witcher 2? Or the new STALKER title? It wouldn't have anything to do with these games not coming from American publishers, could it?! It will be so nice when we finally get a professional gaming media.

Secondly, if you listed these games by genre, you would have over 90% of these titles are action games, either offline or MMO. There's a couple RTS's, but that's about it.

Given how successful titles like The Witcher and Oblivion and Dragon Age were, a huge chunk of the gaming market is being ignored by American publishers. Thank god for the east Europeans!

But of course we get no editorials talking about these issues, do we? We get the same articles trotted out by all the gaming sites. I could have read this on IGN or Gamespot, but where do I go to find a gaming site talking about 2010 games like The Witcher 2, or Fallout: New Vegas, etc?!

i don't know exactly why you're so upset, there is no bias here. if a game isn't on the list but should have been, that means i just haven't heard about it. STALKER: Call of Pripyat is on the list, i am very much looking forward to playing it. and see Metro 2033, a game i think could be really interesting from a startup in Ukraine... i liked the witcher, but am unaware of a sequel. are you sure it's meant to come out this year?

i had no idea about fallout: new vegas! i might've read a news story but then glossed over it thinking it was yet another fallout 3 DLC, lol. since they have no release date beyond "2010" i wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed, but it certainly could have been put on the last page with the other maybes. it's being published by bethesda though, a very american company.

p.s. you can turn off the profanity filter in your account options.

Anyway, if that's really the case, the only way I can understand that is that Diablo III's going to be the much-debated first console port for Blizz.
If so, it's not that bad a move, considering the type of game. Makes much more sense than SCII anyway

you should, because it's not going to be out before 2011.

2011?? You're kiddin right m8?
I know we're talking 'no deadlines-Blizzard' here, but the game was scheduled for a late '09 release. More than a year delay seems a bit steep don't you think?

Not questioning the addictiveness of Diablo, however WoW is a "full time" MMO. Diablo boils down to one thing - combat. WoW is a little more, including crafting and gathering. Just slightly different. Maybe people won't play wow as much for a few months, but still don't think they'll cancel subs.

it wasn't scheduled for anything, only announced. i saw a photo from blizz-con that showed the planned releases for the next few years, and it was SC2 one year, diablo 3 the next, then some WOW expansion, etc. if i come upon it again, i will post a link, but here's one of the many articles quoting an executive saying it won't be out next year.

@Labotomizer
Maybe you are right about battle.net, but when I played Diablo 2 one summer (many years ago) I got addicted in doing boss runs so I know how addicting Diablo can be, however I haven't played MMOs (for that reason) so I don't know if they are as addictive or even more so. But I have a feeling that is the same thing and if so then I think people might switch over.

@knuckles - I believe moving WoW subs to Battle.net was to prep people for paying a sub for Diablo 3. They'll likely offer something like $20-25/month for all 3 games, D3, SC2 and WoW.

Plus, I don't see a game like Diablo really cutting into WoW's numbers. Sure many who play wow might play diablo but that doesn't mean they'll be willing to give up a "full time" mmo for a regular online game.

Why would they come out with a game that could possibly put a dent in there WOW subscription base, unless they are working on similar business model and that was causing the delay.
I think we won't see Diablo 3 until wow becomes less popular.
